Stops at Kollengode and Udumalpettai is inevitable. Only then can the train run profitably on the extended section. Today the train was almost empty from pollachi till palakkad. If it can halt at POY for one hour cos it reached early, why is it not increasing stoppages?
Also it must run faster than buses which ply on the stretch. The train took only 50 minutes for POY to PGTN while bus takes 75-90 minutes but the advantage was lost when it halted at POY for 60 minutes. The track is new and railway must do a feasibility study to run faster, prevent unwanted halts and increase stops aiming at better passenger participation instead of running it just for namesake and grounding it...
more... terming as unprofitable.
I hope all these would be considered in the upcoming weeks by the railways.
