at Ernakulam Junction at 9:35 AM. The return journey departs from Ernakulam Junction at 9:50 AM and reaches Kollam at 1:30 PM. This service will provide relief to passengers who were inconvenienced by the Venad Express no longer stopping at Ernakulam South station. The MEMU service will start after the Vande Bharat Express departs from Kollam at 6:00 AM, eliminating the need for a stopover. The service will use an 8-car MEMU. However, there are challenges for the railway, including the need to renovate the Kollam MEMU shed and address local opposition to the shed's construction, as well as scheduling locomotive pilots' work hours. Discussions are ongoing regarding stops at Chingavanam, Kumaranalloor, Kaduthuruthy, Kanjiramattam, and Chothaniakkara stations. The train numbers are 06169 (Kollam to Ernakulam Junction) and 06170 (Ernakulam Junction to Kollam).

Is service se un yatriyon ko rahat milegi jinhen Venad Express ke Ernakulam South station par na rukne ke karan pareshani ho rahi thi. MEMU service subah 6:00 AM par Kollam se chalu hone wali Vande Bharat Express ke chalan ke baad shuru hogi, isliye koi bhi rokaav nahin hoga. Service mein 8-car MEMU ka istemaal kiya jaayega. Halanki, railway ke liye kuchh chunautiaan hain, jinmein Kollam MEMU shed ka navikaran aur shed ke nirman ke virodh se nibadna, saath hi locomotive pilots ke kam ke ghanto ka schedule banna shamil hai. Chingavanam, Kumaranalloor, Kaduthuruthy, Kanjiramattam, aur Chothaniakkara stations par rokne ke baare mein charcha chal rahi hai. at 9:35 AM. The train will return from Ernakulam at 9:50 AM and reach Kollam at 1:30 PM. The service will run until full-time rakes become available, after which a new MEMU service from Punalur to Ernakulam via Kottayam will be launched. Additionally, a special train from Tambaram to Kochuveli via Kollam will be reinstated soon, and special trains from North Indian states are planned for the upcoming Puja and Diwali holidays. A letter has also been sent to the Railway Minister requesting an additional special train to operate alongside the Velankanni Express during the Velankanni Church festival. Kodikkunnil Suresh has also formally requested the Railway Minister to include Sasthamkotta and Kottarakkara in Kollam under the Amrit Bharat Scheme for the 2024-2025 fiscal.

Iske alawa, Tambaram se Kochuveli, Kollam via ek special train bhi jaldi hi chalne lagegi, aur North Indian states se Puja aur Diwali ki chuttiyon ke liye special trains ki planning ho rahi hai. a.m. The return train, 06170, leaves Ernakulam at 9:50 a.m. and reaches Kollam at 1:30 p.m. The train will stop at various stations including Sasthamkotta, Karuanagapally, Kayamkulam Jn., Mavelikkara, Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Changanassery, Kottayam, Ettumanur, Kuruppanthara, Vaikom Road, Piravom Road, Mulanthuruthy, and Thripunithura. While this new service is being implemented, challenges remain regarding the sustainability of the service due to delays in the expansion of the MEMU Shed in Kollam, the need for additional crew, and potential cascading delays if any train is delayed. The Thiruvananthapuram Division is working on resolving these challenges, and plans to rationalize train stoppages to improve efficiency.
