Sad to see this type of discussion even after 75 years of independence. Indian railways is suppose to combine india beyond the boundries of states, districts, zones and divisions.

No need to use the word "Bifurcation ". Bifurcation means dividing the existing asset into two or more. Here, the correct word should be "Realignment". Don't dissolve Palakkad division, just realign 35 kms in and around Mangalore from SR to SWR.
Pollachi Kinathukadavu 22 kms to be realigned from PGT to SA division. PGT should have PGT POY (excl) as their limits.
Same way, let TVC division be realigned by alloting CAPE TEN portion to MDU division. Let Madurai division give SCT QLN section to TVC division. Win win for TN
...

KL and MDU TVC also.

No bifurcation. Kerala should be happy.
Some railway divisions have more than 1200 km length in their control (SC, GTL for example). But if Kerala insists on 2 divisions for 950 km length, let it be. Let them run dozens of Super Fast passengers in their jurisdiction.
Slowly, TVC can develop Sabari line and PGT can develop Nilambur Nanjangud line to get more length.
Please leave Mangalore to SWR MYS.
