If something good happens for the common man no political party will stand up. Common.man just keeps on struggling.
* Formation of a committee is often resorted to quietly bury the issue to a slow death.
* With about 80 lac paxs per day (about 35% of total IR paxs), Mumbai railway deserves to be a separate zone. Kolkata metro with much lower patronage (7lacs pax) is already declared a zone, Mumbai Suburban deserves much more.
* At zonal level, suburban services with lower revenue than freight & long distance operations often get neglected. If Mumbai railways is made separate zone, we can expect number of deaths per day on Mumbai...

Then losses of these Mumbai suburban operation are very huge and fares have to be increased in hectic manner.
Now the Central and Western Railway's have shared the Sub urban losses by the long distance train / goods operation.
So separate Sub urban zone for Mumbai need not be implemented for the benefits of Mumbai people.
