Tatanagar - Brahmapur VB was introduced keeping in mind the passengers of Chaibasa - Dangoaposi - Kendujhargarh - Jakhapura Section. First Railways decided to introduce a VB in this section. Then it began planning on the Source and Destination. So first Tatanagar - Puri was planned. When Puri expressed inability to handle one more VB, Tatanagar - Brahmapur was selected. If some problem would arise in Brahmapur destination, some other destination would be selected, but in every case this VB would run through this section and not through any other route. On the other hand, If any VB runs in the route you have recommended, it will not halt at Jhargram. It's halts would be Tatanagar, Hijli, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road Junction, Puri.

If govt had passengers of this route in mind, a VB wouldn't have been run at al. Not all routes need an AC connection. This is running through rural Jharkhand. They could have just given a 22 coach ICE with multiple AC coaches instead. It's not like the VB is doing 160 kph here. None of the towns mentioned except for TATA [intermediate stations I mean] figure even in top 10 largest cities of Jharkhand. What this route needed foremost was an overnight M/E train, then a daily ICE and if demand was there, then a VB.

sidestepped the more favored options to push for an inferior service [Yes, VB might be technically superior but what's the point of that if the carrying capacity is less than half of a conventional train].

Correct. We need ICE in this section. But, as I have said earlier also that Modi has nothing to do with the needs of the people. People in this section are requesting for Ranchi - Barbil train since the last 20 years, but SER is denying on the basis that there is no coaching facility at Barbil. But then how are Barbil - Tatanagar passenger train, Barbil - Puri Express and Howrah - Barbil Janshatabdi Express running? If these trains are running, then Ranchi - Barbil train can also run. Other option was Ranchi - Kendujhargarh train in the route Ranchi - Kandra - Chaibasa - Dangoaposi - Banspani - Kendujhargarh. Or, as Barbil - Banspani line has long ago been sanctioned, after constructing the line Ranchi - Kendujhargarh train can be run in the route Ranchi - Kandra - Chaibasa - Barbil - Banspani - Kendujhargarh. Verma put request for Ranchi - Barbil train in parliament, SER is saying that it is rumour and it had no idea of such a train. Modi's ego is only linked with VB now. Coming to Jharkhand and introducing so many VBs here is pure politics linked with vote bank. If this VB ran through Hijli, how could Modi get votes from West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand? At least one VB thorough this route was required for Vote, which he introduced.

Absolutely correct. Barbil needs more platforms. Moreover Barbil is selected under Amrit Bharat Station scheme for development. So increasing the number of platforms is absolutely necessary. Due to having only one platform whenever Howrah - Barbil Janshatabdi Express get very late and is about to reach Barbil after Puri - Barbil Express, then the Puri - Barbil Express is short terminated at Bara Jamda. Initially the Barbil - Puri Express used to be brought to Dangoaposi at night as Tatanagar - Barbil Passenger and Barbil - Puri Express both could not be kept together at Barbil. Later Barbil - Chakradharpur express was introduced and later it was extended to Rourkela only because it couldn't be kept at Barbil at night. After construction of 3rd line from Rajkharsawan to Dangoaposi, all stations between Rajkharsawan and Dangoaposi have got 3rd platform.
