Its my personal opinion that IR should introduce atleast one First AC coach in all the trains which are running 2500kms+ and/or 36hrs+ one journey mandatorily alongwith other ameneties complimentary like toileteries and shower card facility onboard included in the 1st AC ticket fare for passengers. Just like in Japanese Railways and Amtrak provides for its passengers. This will really improve the image of Indian Railways' long journey trains which deserve some "hospitality" revamp and improvements.
Views are welcome.

Didn't Frontier Mail had attached showers, larger cabins [they opened directly onto platforms] and even servant's quarters back in the day? I think IR can provide uber luxury services if they want so. After all, some of the most expensive and luxurious trains in the world run in India [looks at Maharaja Express]. But I doubt IR would bring anything new to 1A anytime soon.

In Vande Bharat Sleeper 1AC they are providing more amenities a shower room with bigger washroom size may be the sure of physically handicaped washroom size in the Loco pilot cabin coach. The fare will be fixed more then the present Rajdhani Duronto fares.

Again repeating.....
We cant and shouldnt compare 3rd class with 1st class...There is a reason why it was and is called 3rd class and whereas the other one is called 1st class........There is totally NO comparison between these two classes...If your logic is implemented then hotel industry wont even exist ЁЯдг All hotels have different categories of room and services.....If i can pay more for some better experience, then I will pay....atleast once a year.....same applies with flights (economy/premier economy/business/1st class) .....and similarly same can be applied in railways....
Gone are the days
...
when taking a railway journey was a monopolistic decision...Middle class and Upper middle class now have choices of cheap Flights also....But if i want a better experience then i can opt for 1st class service with EXCLUSIVE SERVICES and AMENETIES....

They already don't earn enough from First Class AC coaches, it has mostly been just for rich folks maybe tourists. Also, if we think about installing showers etc, we should also be concerned about the sanitation conditions outside the train, which aren't ideal and, the sanitation of the water used in trains, which many don't trust. But I do agree atleast H1 or HA1 should be there for most high demand trains. Main contender for this coach is Kerala SF in my opinion. Also many NFR trains bound, especially most of the south bound weeklies, Brahmaputra Mail, to name a few, do not have HA1 for reasons that are not known. I'm sure the patronage would be good.

And many more.....

My point is exactly .....Install a 1st class coach...H1...With all seperate exclusive first class maintenance and comfort.......Already showers are installed in Rajdhani 1st class coaches.....How much it will cost the IR to provide branded toilet ameneties to 20-30 people onboard ? How much it will cost to manage and hire rail hosts ??
Nowadays even private overnight Volvo buses between Kolkata-siliguri have 2 lady hostess for providing services....The bus fare is the highest still people book it.....cant IR provide better ameneties with service onboard Darjeeling Mail or Padatik SF 1st class with higher fare ? I guarrantee that people will opt for this kind of better services....

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
