How is Tatkal fare calculated? If I book a tatkal ticket, will the base fare be same as that of a General Quota ticket with an additional tatkal charge or the base is also higher than the regular/general quota fare along with a tatkal surcharge?
As per announcement made in the Railway Budget 2013-14, It has been decided to revise Tatkal Charges as given below.
The Tatkal Charges have been fixed as a percentage of fare at the rate of 10% of basic fare for second class and 30% of basic fare for all other classes subject to minimum and maximum as given in the table below.
