What is the rational behind such a high no. of waiting list?
Different trains have different WL cutoff. Is it based upon the historical data that they will be cleared?

I have given Pushpak Express having wl 28 for the dt 10 Nov... Now look at the numbers.. Fare for 1st Ac is Rs 3075... If current status for the date 10 Nov is wl 28 it means additional 27 Waiting tickets has been issued till date.
Rs 3075 *27= Rs83025... has been collected by Railways.. For a Train having Max 14 seats in 1st Ac.. An additional 27 tickets has been issued for a handsome amount.. Is Railways justified in issuing such high wl tickets.. will they add an additional 1 AC coach when they issue High Wl Ticket ?

i feel issuing high waiting list is justified. Last durga puja,i had taken a ticket of wl 550 in garib rath, the total carrying capacity being about 700, about 350 being general quota(in which i was booked). Now i was hopeless about the confirmation, but to my amazement it cleared more than 3 days before doj. Now every class for every train cannot be personalized. Hence railways, have set a regret status of double the quota in most of the trains. During festivals the regret status is relaxed to allow more passengers as chances of extra coach is high. And above all,we are free not to book, if the chances of confirmation are slim.

Why in some trains railways provide W/L upto a high no. But in some, they provide regret in only 150-200 W/L
E.g. - In vikramshila. At most only W/L 100 is provided while in Sapt Kranti upto W/L 300!
As both have same no. Of coaches

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
