Does anyone know why WAP 4s are not upgrading for HOG, is there any technical limitation or IR just don't want to?? Cz IR has huge fleet of P4 and they have very much time left on tracks and they are very efficient and one of the most successful loco, and since IR is now focussing more on HOG enabled train and currently only P7 (except 1 P5) are capable for that so is not required for P4 also have HOG facility to serve wider range of trains.

There isn't any provision for implementation of HOG in WAP-4 locos. Although few WAM-4 and WAP-1 locos had HOG system installed in them (the ones used for Sapthagiri Express ) .

I am not sure about the exact reason but they have not implemented as there must be some barriers blocking the implementation.

IR should try to modify P4 for HOG as there are 100s of P4 plying and they have much time before getting phased out. Also trains does not have to solely depend upon P7 for HOG facility. Since IR is focussing on 100% electrification and HOG mode to reduce pollution then there has to be proper resource available within IR. But yes if there is some technical limitation regarding this than its fine nothing can be done.
