One of the best videos that shows why WDG4 is so good at Ghats. Very nice discussion too in the comments.
This Braganza Ghat video is by Mr. Ramdev Gowda.

Abdul sir answered it already. :)
This is one of the more popular videos on the web about the EMDs. Even many of my non-RF friends had watched this video and were on the lookout for something similar when hiking to the Dudhsagar falls.

He has disappeared off from IRI!
Mostly the southern routes only. I did some trips on the Bhor and Thull routes, but not serious RF trips. Most of my hikes are on the Niligiri route and the Braganza ghats. But covered most of the hill sections in the southern states. :)

try neral-Matheran next time you come this side :P
bhor ghat route isn't very friendly one to trek, owing to very less trees. I'm surprised you actually attempted that :)

We usually pick rainy days to trek. Tree cover is not of much concern. :)
I didn't trek the full route. Some friends had wanted to observe the Duke's nose from a suitable viewpoint. Later we started from the Amrutanjan bridge, trying to make out the alignment of the reversing station, took a short ride on a departmental rake till the Monkey hill catch siding, explored there for a while and footplated on a banker set going downhill.
The Thull ghat trek was more

interesting, as the location of the reversing station there isn't really documented well. While we did make out the rough location, I still have to find the exact location and alignment.
I have to try the Neral-Matheran section some time. I have been on that side only a few times and on all occasions was on a rather tight schedule. Now that the line has been restored, its definitely on my must-visit list!

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
