* Every year a large number of the special trains are operated from UP & Bihar during the festive season. Similarly, other states too give huge revenues/passengers to IR and also deserve special trains. Pointing fingers at the special trains not belonging to Bihar/UP is not fair. Most of the RMs in last few decades have hailed from Bihar and media probably have started to think that rlys too belong only to their home state!! Ironically, the singled out states i.e. Chhatisgarh & Jharkhand are the states which are the most exploited ones where from IR earn about 10000 Cr Rs surplus every year, which is actually spent on other states!! In fact ECR earns majority of its income from Dhanbad division and Didi vehemently opposed transfer of this division from ER to ECR which have actually crippled the finances of ER.

more... How a train 02833 Rajkot-SRC special (weekly) which is reported to do run from 24 Sept to 26 Nov be called a train meant for Chhat, the 6th day after Diwali! Probably the reporter thinks Chhat is the only festival of nation, which actually is celebrated with great fervour in Bihar, and Diwali is not worth a festival! Basic GK required to do reporting is missing here.
* Genuine traveller from UP & Bihar are probably sufferers because of higher prevalence of ticket-less travel in these states. They have to take the brunt of extra rush caused by free trippers.
* An efficient ERP system is necessary for IR so that it can have a realistic picture of occupancy and revenues of each train/ station and new trains must be introduced on the routes where demand is high enough.
