On the advent of Railway Budget 2016-2017 many news we have seen like:
1 Shatabdi Exp to get Semi High Speed Coach with new color scheme.
2 Emphasis is given on manufacturing of "Anubhuti Coaches" with amenities like Airplane etc.
But, as a Rail Enthusiast I think both of the above noted Proposal are nothing but a "Publicity Stunt" on part of the Railway
...
Ministry. Why ?
Point No: 1: Most of the Shatabdi Exp of IR is now provided with Linke Hoffman Busch(LHB) Coaches (Except Swarna Shatabdi running with mixture of ICF & HLHB Coaches) which has the potential of running 160km/hr. But in reality most of the Shatabdis are running on an average 110 to 120 kmph due to the track speed limit as fixed by RDSO for various sections of IR. So the full potential of LHB Coaches is underutilized due to speed limit fixed by RDSO for various sections of IR. So when the potential of present LHB Coaches is underutilized so why IR is thinking to replace Shatabdi Coaches with Semi High Speed ones don't know ....
Point No: 2: Recently after the Inauguration of Mahamana SF Exp it is seen that a craze is seen for "Anubhuti Coaches" and I think this is the impetus on part of IR for which the second proposal is announced. But I would like to add here that "Anubhuti Coaches" won't give the Passengers any Security in case of any accident as because these decorated "Anubhuti Coaches" are nothing but the "Modernization of OLD ICF Mail/Exp Coaches". IR may convert all the "Worn Out ICF Bogies" to Anubhuti with Facility like Airplane but it is to be kept in mind that if any fatal incident occur then "Heap of Death and casualty" won't be saved at any cost. IR is just want to be-fool the commuters here by adding new look to OLD Worn Out Coaches and shifting the Focus from the "Replacement of ICF Coaches with safe and secured LHB Coaches"( Already we know the Safety of LHB very well from numerous BLOGs and NEWS here)
What IR has done regarding increase of production of LHB Coaches in spite of knowing that it is much more safe than ICF ones ?
Still RCF Raebarrilli is not fully operational and LHB Production Scenario is so gloomy in IR why ? Can IR have any answer ?
Why the Long Pending Projects like "Increase Capacity of homing 3-Phase Loco in ELS TATA" under "Plan Head 42 of E-Loco Website" (Projects regarding ELS & ETS) is still pending for more than 6 years ? IR Officers don't have any answer... (Screenshot Attached)
So much "Hue and Cry" is seen regarding Shatabdi trains but why in spite of a "VVIP Train" many Shatabdi still run with WAP-1/WAP-4/WAM-4 in IR ?
I don't think Rail Officers has any answer for the above noted queries.
It would be better if Hon'ble RM do something constructive rather spending money on projects which does not serve any benefit to the commuters in the Long Run.(Like Semi High Speed Coach, Bullet Train, Anubhuti Coach Production etc)

The Main Advantages of LHB:
"They are considered to be "anti-telescopic", which means they do not get turned over or flip in case of a collision (chiefly head-on). These coaches are made of stainless steel and the interiors are made of aluminium which make them lighter as compared to conventional rakes.[9] Each coach also has an "advanced pneumatic disc brake system" for efficient braking at higher speeds."

of these Features are seen in ICF irrespective of new, old, maintenance quality etc. We have many deadly incident like Jnaneswari, and many other where many lives lost as ICF Coaches are not advanced. On the other hand LHB Derailments like Dibrugarh Raj, ERS Duronto etc have very minimal casualty figure due to these advanced characteristics of LHB Coaches.

The part about the Disc brakes is correct, but the first point is not correct. ICF coaches are also anti-telescopic, they are also designed such that they are not crushed in the event of a head-on collision. Accidents with ICF coaches have had more casualties than the LHB counterparts because of the type of couplings. Traditional ICF coaches have screw type couplings, because of which adjacent coaches can roll over independent of each other. It is because of this that the coaches turn over or flip over during accidents. However, LHB rakes don't do so, because of their CBC couplings. We also have ICF trains with CBC couplings (like Tamilnadu express, Godavari express, Howrah - Madras mail to name a few). These CBC ICF rakes will also not turn over or flip during accidents and are quite safe.

Refer to the question 'What is an Integral Coach?' in this IRFCA FAQ : click here
A very economical thing to do would be to provide LHB rakes for the trains whose ICF rakes are becoming old ( 15 years + ) first, while upgrading the ones with the more recently manufactured coaches ( coaches which still have more than 15 years of codal life left) with CBC couplings. Adding a CBC coupling to a coach is a very trivial thing to do and is usually done at several workshops around the country. Since LHB coaches are more costly and there is the problem of providing diesel EOG cars. Until the HOG loco turnover is increased, converting traditional ICF coaches to CBC rakes while slowly adding LHB coaches to other trains will be a very good thing to implement!!

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
