While the Bhopal Shatabdi is the undisputed speed king of India - being the only train in India to hit the 150 km/hr mark, it still isn't the "fastest" train in India end to end. That title is held by the one and only 12951/2 - Mumbai Rajdhani Express. The Mumbai Rajdhani has a commercial average speed of 86.05 km/hr. It takes 32 hours and 10 minutes for a round trip from Mumbai to New Delhi and back - a total distance of 2768 kms. Note that this average speed also includes the time taken by the train at all its halts and is therefore a more accurate number as it is very close to the actual travel time an average passenger aboard the train would experience. Shown in this video is the Rajdhani Express at full speed while traversing through the Virar- Vadodara section. the train is doing its...
more... allotted top speed of 120 km/hr in this video. This section is likely to be upgraded to 130 km/hr in the months to come and we might see the running time of the muMBAI rajdhani reduced even further.
