Chennai Egmore Thivim Special? For what purpose??? Is it being sent to run as Velankanni Special in the return direction?
its for Velankanni festival. Rake is being sent to Goa, Konkan, Kerala region to ferry people from this region to Velankanni festival. It's possible that CR was unable to send a special hence SR doing it.. instead of sending an empty rake to Konkan, a special train is going there...
Yes. Bookings opened now. And it's not that CR was unable to send a rake. It's just that they will not send it. SR can earn some revenue now. SWR's Suvidha is already sold out.

I left from home at 20.15 hours to Chennai Central. Reached Pallavaram station around 20.40 hours and after getting local train ticket boarded a Chennai Beach local at 20.52 hours. Reached Chennai Park station around 21.35 hours. Crossed the subway and reached Central around 21.40 hours.

Dear Prabhu though the route is circuitous its bit faster. Via CL MS to MDU takes 9 hors in Pandian SF exp but in this route the distance was coverd in about 10 hours and 10 minutes. If the stoppage at ED was reduced to mere 10 minutes the would have covered the distance in 9 and a half hours.
The CL is highly congested too many crossings and restrictions. This route is fine in this aspect.

CL ah? Which station you are telling sir.. What you are telling is correct w.r.t speed. I really feel people of South tamilNadu are negelected. May be they should start a rail struggle committee like us in CBE.
Yes during night CL is highly congested. I agree that MAS-ED has many trains but MS-TPJ CL is single line so congestion is more. Too many crossings. If you travel at night trains would be stopped at numerous stations for crossings as a result most of the trains run late.
