Self-generating ICF coaches like these have an alternator connected to the wheels to generate electricity while the train is moving. For non-AC coaches, there is only one alternator fixed per coach. So, the 'Non-ALT End' means that there is no alternator connected to the wheels at this end of the coach. The wheels at the other end of the coach will have the alternator connected to them.
