The place is called as Mortakka and there hardly are any restaurants in the town. You'll get tea and snacks outside the station and nothing else. For food travel either towards Omkareshwar or towards Sanawad.

The station is, in fact, the closest one to the town of Omakreshwar which is famous for its Jyotirling.
Exit from the main entrance of the station and walk for around 200 metres towards Sanawad side. You'll find shared autorickshaws for Omkareshwar.
The shared magic is overly crammed and 16 people and won't move until its fully packed. The 12km journey thus becomes a nightmare of sorts. Also under the pressure of these auto-rickshaw drivers, the buses don't pick passengers so one is forced to travel by these. The journey costs
Rs 25 to the main town and Rs 20 to Bus stand which is outside the town.

I am posting this tip for 12074 based on my journey experiences from BLS to HWH. I traveled in the 2S class.
1. Cleanliness: The train compartment was clean enough. I expected it to be dirty but I was surprised. Kudos to the passengers for keeping the train clean as I did not spot any cleaning crew.
2. Food: On board catering is quite active. They sell all sorts of items like cake, biscuits, chips, cold drinks, lassi, water, tea, coffee etc. Prices are taken according to MRP. They were
selling items even after KGP.
3. Punctuality: Super punctual. It started with a delay of 30 mins from BBS but reached KGP with a delay of 15 mins. It would have reached Howrah with only a delay of 5 mins but was stranded at Tikiapara and Howrah outer for quite sometime owing to what amounts to about 20 mins delay. Train has a superb run.
4. Tickets: Tickets are easily available in 2S. Even at the last moment, about 100 seats were still left. For AC however, getting tickets is quite difficult as the y sell out quickly.
Also for a general tip, if you are boarding from one of the intermediate stations, getting overhead luggage space can be quite difficult. The same is the case for other CC trains too. Also, if you are a single traveler and have booked a window seat then you probably might not get it(especially if they are occupied by female and aged people). For aged people, I do not mind but really get irritating when healthy people do not move. Also, there is no trouble of daily passengers on this train. Overall I would give this train a 6/10 based on my experience.

I travelled in this train from DWR to KJM on 10th Oct 2018. As usual the train reached / arrived at DWR at 20:00 hrs. I ordered two Special Thalis for Rs.100/- each. The taste was good. The Thali had Paneer Sabji + Aloo Matar + Daal + Jeera Rice + 3 Pulkas. The size of the Pulka was rather small but they were thick. 4 Pulkas would have been ideal. And the quantity of the Sabjis and Daal was much more than expected. So if you are 2 persons traveling, I strongly recommend you to order just one Special Thali and order one extra plate of Pulkas (3 pulkas for Rs.20/-). But remember, do not order these extra Pulkas when you order your Thali. First order your Thali and when it is delivered to you, only then ask the waiter to get you one extra plate of Pulkas. This will...
be sufficient for 2 persons. And you will have spent just Rs.120/- for 2 persons.

It is a pretty good train to travel to Guwahati from Kolkata. Departs Kolkata and Arrives Guwahati mostly right time, albeit any problems in the route. Priority given is pretty good. When departing from Kolkata, take care to carry your own food as there is none available on Kolkata railway station and the lone restaurant at the station, COMESUM, is a complete LOOT, with veg thali priced around Rs. 190. Outskirts of the station also do not have any food stalls or good hotels. To find food you would have to walk pretty long distance, hence please carry the same if boarding the train from Kolkata railway station. The journey is pretty good, toilets remain clean throughout the journey, smell nice and have hand showers and soap always available. The bedding provided(on payment ofcourse) is pretty clean. The up train towards guwahati is pretty popular for the people travelling to NJP,...
hence gets quite empty at NJP. There is no worry for food from early morning as hawkers enter the train regularly and you cam get everything to eat in the train itself. The 'roti sabzi' at NJP is quite popular breakfast with 3 rotis and sabzi for Rs. 20. Catering is present in the train. I don't remember the exact rates but are on the expensive side with the food atmost being on the average side. You can get your lunch at NBQ, but get it quickly as the train does not stop for much time there. The train follows goalpara town route and there you won't find many hawkers. Train pretty much arrives Guwahati before time if departs NBQ on time.
NOTE - Do not buy any electrical gadgets from trains on this route as most of the time you will get fooled by the hawkers. Almost all the products sold by them would break, get damaged soon after you start using them.
