Now there is not much difference between normal and premium trains, railways should now increase the speed of premium trains from 130 to 140 or 150, so that the difference between premium and normal trains will be maintained.

That could become reality once operation raftaar is completed. But these premium trains presently should run at 150 or 160 in permitted sections, provided all LPs are trained for such speeds and their duty roster arranged as such and infighting between crew lobbies is resolved. That at present looks more difficult than upgrading the route for 160. :P

I have slightly different view on this. There should be only 2 types of trains in terms of speed differentiation. 1. SF, 2. Fast passenger. Further difference should be purely based on additional facilities on board and preferred time slot. Take the example of Airline Industry. One type of Aeroplane will cover a distance in same time, whether its operated by full service airline or low cost airline. Such a concept will lead to better utilisation of the Infrastructure and increase in demand.

This idea would definitely be more beneficial to passengers as well as the Railways.
Having so many categories for fare structuring is a total waste, when there is no visible distinguishing factors in their speeds.
Take eg of MAS DUR, MAS GR and MAS RAJ, all run in same slot with same avg speed but with diff fares. What's the use...
