south India is always neglected and given least priority for railway up gradation work.
Years back they had done 130kmph trials for MAS-JTJ and MAS-GDR, till now nothing has changed still running only at 110kmph.
And not to speak of lines in Karnataka, mostly it's 90kmph only.

Bcoz Southern States Are Ruled By Bus Mafia....... Less Rail Traffic Compared To Northern States.... So No Major Up-gradation Or Rail Infrastructure Compared To North..... But Things Are Now Changing Slowly in South..... In Couple Of Years We May See Rail Infrastructure Up-gradation....
