Opposition may not succeed in stopping the project, but certainly will succeed in delaying it and increasing the project cost thereby adversely affecting the financial viability of the project.

Of course govt will succeed only opposition is against bullet train if land owners get proper cocompensation thencthey wont wont be against bullet train project for example Bangalore metro during the construction in 2009 almost all people opposed this project later metro became the lifeline of Bangalore same like that after bullet train comes it will be very useful for the public

* Govt or Opposition, Who will ultimately get the electoral benefits out of the Bullet Train tussle is not yet clear.
* But one thing is definite, country is losing due to delay in implementation of the prestegiouus 1.1 lac crore Rs project.
* Since UPA as well as NDA govts have repeatedly announced implementation of this project since last 10 years, the tussle is not idealogical, but a political one where interests of nation/people has gone to back burner
