Then later on TN govt may do Gauge conversion to convert Mono to metro :P:P
mono can be given to short and narrow routes in north chennai. but middle and south road extension is feasible so MRTS METRO can be done.
moreover Mono is very much essential for MDU TPJ cities where we cant afford metro MRTS or sub urban

technically speaking mono metro conversion is twice tough as metro mono conversion
I believe CBE and MDU are also on the radar after Chennai. But funding is the biggest problem as there is always fight b/w State and Center on the % share and it delays the projects.
CBE deserves metro. MDU TPJ can be done with Mono.
TPJ have many industrial belt so it wont be a loss.
