As I had highlighted in an earlier post , the major problem with jaipur metro is the route of current metro and it's frequency. The current route has less takers.

Also , the proposal of extension of the metro to ambabari on one side and sitapura on the other has been shelved by previous governments due to lack of funds and other pretexts since 2016- 2017.

ground , this holds immense potential, as many private minibuses and vans carry college students, workers and labour force from different parts of the city to sitapura industrial area (RIICO) (many factories , educational institutions are located here) via sanganer , tonk road and Pratap nagar .

Hopefully, if the current government prioritised this extension work and it sees light of the day , it would boost the ridership in long run , plus reduce reliance on private transport operators

I completely agree .
Metro can do wonders in so called "tier 2 cities" , if the routes are meticulously picked , after proper research and analysis ; and adequate transport connectivity from/to metro stations is ensured (Poor- in case of Jaipur). It can aid in reducing traffic jams and reduce reliance on local bus operators and cabs . Also, I believe monetary loss cannot always be the 'sole criteria' of judging performance of a metro network .

Agree
I agree with you.
But in respect to the train in this article (13429) , iss train mein sirf 5 AC ke coach hain , baaki saare non-ac coach hain . Phir bhi log without ticket train board kar rahe hain , isse inn logon ki mansikta ka bhi pata chalta hai - they don't have fear of any authority - koi checking hoti nahi , koi rokne-tokne wala nahi hai . They take advantage of it and ultimately passengers with reserved ticket have to bear the brunt . Ticketless passengers too take pride in travelling in AC and behave like hooligans .
...

AC mein overcrowding ka reason abrupt reduction of sleeper coaches toh hai. Railways should keep at least a minimum of 5-6 sleeper coaches in express trains , I believe.

but ek reason lack of RPF and TTC monitoring ; and; lack of discipline , lack of fear in ticketless travellers Bhi hai . Kayi logon ke paas toh sleeper ka bhi ticket nahi hota , aur first AC ki lobby mein baithe dekha hai Maine .

Railways should make additional deployment of staff on trains and rail routes from where overcrowding is regularly reported , Severe punishment and heavy fines should be imposed to curb this . Plus on such routes Amrit Bharat and antyodaya trains should be introduced/regularised , to compensate loss of non-ac coaches in express trains , so that people who can't afford AC travel have sufficient options .

Agree
I agree. The railway staff and RPF should perform their duties with due diligence , so as to curb this menace . If ticketless travellers are apprehended at platform entrance and coach entrance only , such incidents will come down.

I have lived in various parts of India , and I see the difference when staff takes their duties seriously and public is also complying. In UBL- SBC stretch for example , I have seen RPF continuously patrolling even in sleeper coaches. The TTC keeps the doors

of AC Coaches closed , and opens them at intermediate stations only when there is some boarding/deboarding as per reservation chart. ( Seen in 16590 while travelling from DVG-SBC ). Also , TTC stands near the door , not allowing any random person to enter . At times, coach vestibules are closed to prevent inter-coach movement at night . This may not completely eradicate , but substantially reduces incidences of unauthorised travel in reserved classes .

The COVID time scheme of conversion of GS to 2S should have continued , with ticket checking in all classes .

Although there exist issues of lack of regular trains , reduction of sleeper coaches etc ; but such incidents highlight problems of lack of safety and vigilance; and lack of travel discipline in Indian trains , in many parts of the country. Incidents of ticketless travellers entering even vande Bharat trains have come to light.

With work on Modernisation, speed and facilities, serious attention should be given to these issues as well.

I know it is easier said than done . But at present we have a stable central government with. majority . A lot of reforms are underway - even UPI was considered impossible at one time - So were semi high speed trains.
Kisi ko toh shuruwat karni padegi nahi toh Aisa hi chalta rahega.
Amrit bharat scheme mein stations revamp kar rahe hain , ticket based entry barriers should be considered( as in Japan , China high speed rail, On metro stations , some BRTS corridors this system is working

well )
OR
Recruit and train the staff for particular/specific roles and then induct them in phases on various routes . On metro stations , some BRTS corridors this system is working well , a phase wise implementation in railways is also required.

I completely Agree . Such reforms should be seriously considered. Phase wise implementation can be done , starting from major stations . Otherwise being the most populous country in the world , these issues we are witnessing will continue to persist , and remain far from ever being sorted out .

they should either speed up Jan shatabdi with extension upto DDN , or introduce a special intercity to gauge the occupancy.

Agree. Dharwad - kittur - Belgaum needs to be done up first . There were some issues in December 2023 and cancellation of tender for construction between Kyarkoppa and Mummigatti on this proposed route , Plus farmer land issues .
