The Intercity has not been reintroduced since the pandemic and in all likelihood looks definitely cancelled.
MAQ lost yet another daytime connection along the Konkan when the older SBC-KAWR Link Exp got speeded up and refashioned as Panchaganga Exp rerouted via the Padil bypass. That train was a reliable connection for the West Coast Exp in the past.

Think the 17311/12 is better left as it is and whatever Chennai-bound train should be via the shorter route via GTL-RU like the 17419/20.

Yes, those timings would really suit end-to-end passengers.

Extension of existing trains/Utilization of lie-over rakes beyond MAQ will help in decongesting the terminal to allow more services.
1. 16585/86 SMVB MAQ train can be made to run upto Karwar like its predecessor. Will help a lot of pilgrims as the MAQ MAO intercity has also been discontinued and the erstwhile Verna passenger now officially departs prior to West Coast's arrival.

And better late than never, SWR should also explore the option of a bypass line connecting Hosur line towards Krishnarajapuram at the Baiyyappanahalli interchange. Will eliminate a whole lot of bottlenecks in relation to suburban traffic between Electronics City and Whitefield.
