I had taken this train from Bandra Terminus to Bilimora in 2S coach in Feb 2024 and listing some tips based on my experience:

1. Coach Condition: The LHB 2S coach in this train is very comfortable and has the seats facing each other with large leg room. This should be the ideal arrangement and Railways should produce LHB 2S coaches with this layout. My coach was D3 that was 2018 made but I noticed that all the 2s coaches had this same arrangement. One charging point was available in each bay

of 6 seats. The top luggage rack was wide enough to accomodate a medium sized trolley bag.

2. Cleanliness and Maintenance: The coaches were very clean and well maintained. The toilets were in satisfactory condition from BDTS.

3. Punctuality: This is a punctual train which gets good priority on the route. We departed BDTS with 8 mins delay (due to Chain Pulling on departure) and reached Bilimora with a delay of 13 mins. It hits very good speeds after Virar.

4. Food: I had taken home cooked food and hence did not try the food onboard. There is no pantry but there are vendors selling various items like Idli Chutney, Medu Vada Chutney, Veg Cutlet, Khaman, Chai and Water.

5. Ticket Availability: This train has good patronage and hence ticket availability might be an issue on Holidays, Weekends and Mondays. If you book about 15 days in advance, the tickets should be easily available.

6. Unreserved Coaches: All the UR coaches are at the back end of the train. This being an intercity train, expect a lot of passengers illegally boarding the 2S coach and travelling in the corridor.

7. Railfanning: It is a nice train for railfanning while traveling in non ac coaches. It goes on a spree and hits high speeds after Virar. The track sounds during the speedy run by the LHB coaches are soothing. Usually gets a WAP-7 in lead.

Although there were unauthorized passengers travelling in the corridor of my 2s coach, this did not cause any issue or conflict during my journey. If you are traveling to Surat or any destination enroute, this should be your preferred train.

Have a safe trip.

Vivek

Agree
right now Intercity is running in heavy WL so they introduced clone Intercity 09055/56.
It's departure time from BDTS is good i.e. at 9.50 but departure from UDN needs to be changed from 16.15 to 19 or 19.30 because at current time of 09056, 10 mins after 09056 we have 12936 at 16.25 so a bery narrow slot of 10 minutes is there between 20902, ICE and 09056
09056 can easily reach BVI before 19426 if they keep departure time after 19.00. considering 09056 has lesser stops between UDN and Bdts than

19426.

09056 ka timing perfect hai 12936 overflow ho jati hai poora reserved coaches m standing available nahi rahta hai aur 7PM ke around 19020 h uska GS khaali jata hai aur weeklys plus BGKT DDR Plus 2 3 memus hai aur morning m 12935 ke option m गुजरात SF h to problem nahi hota hai isliye 09055 ko 9 50 diya hai because 7 am se 11 30 am koi train nahi hai FAST

Here are some of the tips based on my couple of visits to BDTS:

1. Connectivity with suburban local stations:
The biggest issue with this station is the connectivity with any mumbai suburban local stations. This issue is now resolved to some extent as a new bridge has been commissioned from Khar Road station which takes you directly from Khar Road to Bandra
...
Terminus. So instead of using Bandra suburban station from a local train, you should deboard at Khar Road. If you don't prefer to walk, take an auto from either Khar Road or Bandra.

2. Bridge/Subway Accessibility:
The foot over bridge at Dadar end of the station is designed by someone who was drunk. It covers only PF 6 and 7, ends at at a bizzare point without covering all the platforms and without a straight exit. The passengers have to walk additional distances to reach the exit. There is a subway which connects all the platforms as well as the main exit and you should prefer it anytime. It is at the Borivali side of the platform.

3. Waiting hall and seating area:
The waiting hall, retiring rooms are situated at the main entrance at the Borivali end of PF 1. There is a common seating area with ample chairs at the same main entrance area.

4. Buggy Service:
Three buggy vehicles are available for service at the station. They are parked near the main entrance near the seating area near PF 1.. They arrive at the platform just when the train arrives. Don't panic/crawl with the co-passengers if they are full. They come back and forth multiple times.
Charges: 40rs/passenger with a free allowance of an 8kg bag, 20rs/luggage . Contact details in the attached image.

4. App based taxis: App based taxis like Ola and Uber serve the station well and you should use the main exit near PF 1 as the pickup point for a hassle free pickup/drop. Autorickshaw and Black Yellow Taxis charge a bomb and hence avoid them.

5. Cleanliness: During my second visit in 2022, this station was surprisingly clean and very well maintained.

6. Porters: Porters are available at BDTS and you can find them mostly near the AC coaches during the train arrivals and at the main exit during the rest of the time.

Overall: This is a satellite station for MMCT just like LTT is for CSMT. Avoid it and use BVI if possible. If BVI is far off, use the buggy services at this station and book an app based taxi for a smoother commute.

Cheers
Vivek

Travelled in this train. Superb for travel between Mumbai to Delhi. Speed almost like Rajdhani. 3A fare is 1610, when compared with Rajdhani in which fare goes upto 3085.
Pantry car available. Very few stops. Almost 80 percent seats filled at Bandra itself.
Bedrolls are given. You will get dinner and morning breakfast.

This tip is based on my couple of journeys between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
1. Tickets and availability: Even in the peak season, this is a train on which you can bank on. I traveled during the Christmas season and was successful in getting the tickets. The main advantage and disadvantage of this train are its timing at ADI. It arrives at ADI at a very odd time of 1:10 AM in the night due to which many people avoid it and making it available for others.
2. Coaches and Comfort: During my entire
...

journey of 6h 40m, I didn't sleep for a minute. All credit goes to the coaches which give you heavy vibrations and jerks. A couple of times in the night, I felt the train has derailed due to the jerks. If you are looking for comfort, please don't book this train. I was on the lower berth once and side upper berth the second time. Lower berth journey was really unpleasant.
3. Speed: "Blaster" is the word that comes to my mind when I think of my experience travelling in this train. After leaving Ahmedabad, it literally traverses as a rocket blasting through stations. Being a railfan, this is one thing all of us crave for but at night, even railfans require comfortable sleep which is largely disturbed by the blasting speed and coach geometry. Speed is one department where this train doesn't disappoint at all. Continuously hits the 100 km/h mark.

Waiting rooms (General, Ladies and AC) are on 1st floor. When we went to AC room, there was no one to check our ticket. So, we made entry in the register on our own. There were only 2 or 3 people in the room other than us as it was around 10:30 PM. The AC was ok but smell from toilet was too much.
