enhance the learning experience of loco-pilots and improve their driving skills with regard to aspects like train dynamics and handling, dealing with unusual and hazardous events, route learning, economical fuel-efficient driving and safe operations. The NCR is upgrading its sole loco-pilot simulator training centre in Kanpur.”
“Currently, the Kanpur centre imparts training to loco-pilots of other zones as well,” he added.
According to officials, the simulators will have an advance 3D technology, so as to provide training in a real-life environment and exposing trainees to unusual occurrences. In NCR, there are 6,772 loco-pilots, out of which 4,795 are electric loco-pilots who run 392 electric locomotives. The railways also trains diesel locomotive pilots at its Jhansi-based training facility.
