Guntur railway station, Scr:
Came to know from elders that current PFS 3,4 were originally 1&2 with broad gauge towards Vijayawada(bza) and tenali and PFS 5 & 6 were meter gauge towards Guntakal and Macherla aorund 1970s. It had some importance in this phase as it acted as a connecting point. The existing PF 1 & 2 area was goods shed and there was a wall with stoppers infront. The entrance to the station is from the current day Guntur medical college road, you can see the gate now too but is closed in recent areas. The area infront of the station used to be yard with lorries. We can see that Pf4 has some difference from others and ticket counter existed

with FoB to the current Pf3.
However situation changed around 1990s, Nadikudi to Bibinagar line was completed with broad gauge and nadikudi - macherla became a branch line. Also gauge conversion was completed to Guntakal and Nallapadu became junction(it was on Guntakal line earlier.) The station was then developed to the existing state. The goods shed was shifted to reddipalem branching just before Guntur station from bza side which was connected to Guntur-Tenali/Vejendla side.
But again the goods shed has become New Guntur(ngnt) railway station, which was proposed to be near manipuram bridge on Guntur Bza section by the local leadership due to its location in prime area and walkable distance to Guntur bus stand. However railways citing the cost for the new signalling system which was facilitated around using 10Cr rupees made the current Ngnt station.

I envy you Sir! Such slip journeys are far and few these days.
The minimum block length is ideally the length of the longest train to be operated on the route + required clearances (signal overlap and fouling distance) + a safety margin. which I guess can be around 1-2 kms for passenger lines.
Basin Bridge is definitely a block station for MAS. In automatic block territory, trains are bunched closer together, so it may be possible for trains from MAS to depart

with lesser gaps between departures. On the main lines, many sections now have Intermediate block signals between stations. This reduces the block section length and increased throughput between stations.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
