I have booked 6 tickets in Train # 12779 Goa Express from VSG (Vasco, Goa) to Pune in Sleeper 3 Tier Coach, on 12-Apr-2014.
At the time of booking only 5 seats were available, so I proceed to book, but the 6th passanger was alloted W/L 69. How this is possible ? When 5 seats are available, then W/L should be 1 or better RAC should be 1.
If there was already 68 W/L then how 5 seats were available ?. Now after 50days...

What are the chances of confirmation of 1 passenger ( Date of Journet 2-May)

I tried to understand, but it is confusing. In short how can I find out the current position from VSG to Pune. As per W/L the status is 56. But definately there have been atleast one cancellation from VSG to Pune in 50 days.

It must be PQWL ..and it means that the quota of many stations is pooled into a single WL number ..so VSG to LONDA , VSG to Belgaum , vsg to Pune will have same WL in sequence even though quota of seats may be different for each of the stations..so for ex : quota of seats from VSG to Londa is 10 and vsg to pune is 50 ..so as soon as the 10 seats of londa gets filled PQWL 1 starts while seats to pune at that moment may still be available like in your case ..but the PQWL will keep on increasing if people keep booking in the vsg - londa section ..say suppose now the PQWL increased to PQWL 69 and now vsg - pune availability came down to 5 and you booked 6 tickets , so vsg - pune quota 5 seats were given to you...

and now the PQWL for pune also started but it will start from PQWL 69 and not PQWL 1 since the WL quota is pooled between different stations...hope its clear !!!
